Lists

Lists are static groups of contacts. Contacts are manually managed within a List, meaninig a cbC administrator must add or remove contacts unless the contact has chosen to unsubscribe from your marketing emails. This section will cover how to manually manage contacts within a list.

All Lists

The Lists page lets you see all of the lists that you have created in your account. From this page, you can begin creating new lists, or manage existing lists.


 
A list is defined as an association of your contacts. Lists are static contact groups.

  • Contacts stay on a list until you remove them or until they remove themselves
  • Lists are suited to high–level organization or for different types of mailings
  • You will want to think about multiple lists for different departments, different goals, etc.

Creating A List

  1. Go to Contacts->Lists.

  2. Click Create List. You will be brought to the screen below. 


     
  3. Give your list a name in the Internal Name text box. The internal name that you assign to your list is only visible to users within your account.
  4. Give your list an external name. The external name is the name that will appear to your contacts if you make this list visible on a webform.
  5. Provide a description for your list. Only you will be able to view the description of your list. Your contacts will not be able to see the description.
  6. Click Save.
NOTE: The internal list name cannot contain double quotes, less than signs, or greater than signs.

Editing A List

  1. Click the Pencil icon in the row associated with the list you want to edit on the All Lists page.
  2. From here, you can edit the Internal Name, External Name, and Description for your list.

When you are done making changes to your list, click Save.

Deleting A List

  1. Click the checkbox in the row associated with the list you want to delete on the All Lists page.
  2. Click Delete .

Deleting A List And The Contacts Within It

In addition to being able to simply delete a list, you can also choose to delete a list and all of the contacts associated with that list. To delete a list and all the contacts associated with it, click the Delete List and Associated Contacts icon   in the row associated with the list you want to delete.

Warning - Exercise caution when deleting a list and all of the contacts associated with it. Once contacts are deleted, you will not be able to recover them. In order to get those contacts back, you will need to add them to your account again, the same as you would for new contacts.

Copying Lists

Click the Copy List icon in the row associated with the list you want to copy on the All Lists page.

  1. Provide a new internal name. The internal name is only visible within your account.
  2. Provide an external name. The external name is the name that will appear to your contacts if you make this list visible on a webform.
  3. Click Save.
Note - Copying a list or segment does not change the total number of contacts in your account. Whether a contact is on 1 list or 10 lists, they will only count once against your total.

Searching For A List

You can use the Search Lists feature to quickly search for a specific list. All you need to do is type in the name of the list you want to find, and then click Search.
