The Contacts Dashboard provides a high level look at all of your contacts and is the starting point for beginning contact management.
Contacts are unique email addresses in your account. Contacts can be just an email address or they can be numerous data fields such as first name, zip code, product preference, etc. While contacts are essential to a successful email marketing campaign, don't fall into the trap of thinking more is better. Equally important to having contacts, is how you manage those contacts. After all, if you send your email to 1 million people and none of them end up buying anything, then the fact that you have 1 million contacts really doesn't mean anything. Think about it, would you prefer a list of 100 contacts that continually interact with you and make purchases, or would you rather have 1 million contacts that rarely open your emails and never buy anything? That being said, don't just throw out your list because the majority of the contacts on it don't ever interact with your messages. Rather, try figuring out ways to engage these contacts with more targeted messaging. Remember, a key part of a successful email marketing campaign is not just having contacts, but properly managing those contacts with tools like segments and fields, so that you can realize the greatest ROI (return on investment) from your campaign.
The Contacts Growth Over Past 90 Days Graph on the Contacts Dashboard displays how the number of contacts in your account has fluctuated over a given time period. This graph is extremely useful for measuring metrics such as total contacts versus conversions made. For example, if you have increased your contacts by 1,000 each month for the past 5 months, and the number of conversions has decreased over the same 5 month period, then you probably need to go back and review the content of your message and who you are sending to. Note - The data used to draw the dashboard graphs does not get created in real time, but rather is only refreshed periodically. This refresh period can be as infrequent as once per-day. Because of this, if you make significant changes to your contacts, such as perfomring a large import, the statisitcs will not reflect your changes immediately.
You can use the search box on the Contacts dashboard to quickly search through all of the contacts in your account. Type your search term in the search text box and click Search.
Go to Contacts > Dashboard to quickly view how many onboarding contacts are currently in your account, as well as view how many onboarding contacts are currentyl being assessed.
The email addresses by domain pie chart shows a graphical representation of the email domains used by the contacts in your account.
Lists are static groups of contacts. Contacts are placed into a list by you and can only be removed if you manually remove them, or if they unsubscribe from your emails. The recently targeting lists section allows you to view all of your lists, create a new list, or view your lists that have been most recently targeted. Next to each recently targeted list, you will notice a number in parenthesis. This number represents how many contacts are on that particular list. You can view all lists or create a new list by clicking on either the View All Lists or Create New Lists links.
The recently targeted segments section lets you view your segments that have been most recently targeted. Next to each recently targeted segment, you will notice a number in parenthesis. This number represents the number of contacts that belong to that particular segment. You can view all of your segments or create a new segment by clicking either the View All Segments or Create New Segment links.
