The content editor is used to create web page content and to add detailed descriptions to the Online Calendar. This section will review the editor buttons that are available.

To edit a page's content or information:

Edit Mode

To add or edit content ensure that the EDIT button is selected.

Within the EDIT option, there are three tabs (Page, Form and Properties). Typically clubs find themselves working with the PAGE Tab most often.

Page Tab

This is where page creation and editing are done, except with respect to certain Document Types.

Form Tab

Distinguishes the life of the page, where you can name the page and give it a timeline except with respect to certain Document Types.

Editor Buttons

As you can see, it provides functionality similar to Microsoft Word. Below is a brief explanation of what the buttons do.

This allows you to toggle back and forth to HTML view and the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get editor)
Select All - selects all the text in the editable area
Cut
Copy
Paste
Paste as plain text – this command pastes the content of your clipboard while removing all formatting.
Paste from Word - this command allows you to clean-up content pasted from Microsoft Word. It cleans up the HTML code so that it doesn't contain extra code and so that it fits your website design. When copying text from Microsoft Word, the text is encapsulated with many unnecessary tags that may break your web page design. Thus, the editor allows you to clean the pasted text so that it contains only basic formatting.
Undo
Redo
Find
Replace
Remove formatting - It allows you to remove unwanted formatting.  To remove formatting simply highlight your desired area and click the Erase formatting button.  Your rich text will then look like plain text
Bold
Italics
Underline
Strike Through
Subscript
Superscript
Number bullet point
Standard bullet points
Decrease Indent
Increase Indent
Block Quote
Create <div> Container
Left Justification
Center Justification
Right Justification
Full Justification - Similar to what you would see in a newspaper column.

Anchor - create anchor point on page (i.e. top, bottom, pricing, history)
Insert Page Break for Printing
Insert/Edit image or media - Insert/attach images, documents or media from your Media Library, site content, and/or the Internet. See the Insert Image or Media Libraries section for more details.
Insert/Edit Table - This button will allow you to create a Table.
Insert Horizontal line – this will insert a horizontal link across your content area.
Insert Special Character – this will allow you to insert a variety of symbols in your content area.
Insert BizForm - inserts an on-line form into the text. You can find more details on
Insert Poll
Insert/Edit YouTube video - inserts YouTube video. For more information on inserting YouTube video, see the section below.

Formatting Text

Styles - A specific text style can be selected from the Style dropdown within the WYSIWYG editor.
Format - There are different pre-formatted text options. Typically, one of our graphic designers has set your defaults with respect to font styles/sizes. Heading 1 is used for titles. Heading 2 is used for Subheadings and for most clubs, the website will default to a particular style of font for you.
Font - Here you can select your desired font. Please note you will only see “web safe” fonts. In the event that you copy over a font from a 3rd party site or program that is not web safe, the editor will accept it as long as you have that font on your computer, but if the end user and/or other administrators do not have that font, then you are at the mercy of the user's web browser to find a font to display.
Size - Allows you to set the size of the font.

Text Color  - This gives you a color palette for your fonts.
Background Color - This is like a highlighter. You can select a color from the palette
Maximize - expands the editable area so that it has a larger area to edit content on screen

Viewing Options for Content Area

EDIT

  • Allows you to create and/or edit content within a page.
  • Pages must be saved if any new changes are made.

PREVIEW

  • Allows you to preview a page before the latest changes are Published.
  • In order to Preview a page, it needs to be saved.

LIVE SITE

  • Opens a new window and shows you what the club’s website actually looks like.
  • Only Published pages display on the Live site to Members and/or the Public.

Depending on whether or not a page has been published, there can be a difference between the Preview and Live Site. When making a change to a page’s content, the changes can be saved without publishing it to the live site. This means that while the changes have been saved, they are not available for anyone to view on the live site.

Some examples of why a page may not be published

  • The page is incomplete and not ready for viewing on the live site
  • It is pending approval (where applicable)
  • You would like to create your page(s) ahead of time and you do not want the page viewable until a later date
  • Club personnel simply forgot to publish the page

In these cases, the members would see the last published information, or if the page has just been created and never published, the page will not appear on the live site. Once the page is ready to be viewed, it can be PUBLISHED to the website, and it will be visible to the members.

Special Characters

Once clicked, a Special Character window will pop open. Many clubs use the symbol as a replacement for bullets as this does not add any unwanted indentation.
