Creating a New Web Page

Create a new web page on your website and have it display in the menu.  Customize the banner image on that page and/or add Upcoming Events, Weather or Upcoming Birthdays.
 

Create a New Web Page in the main Navigation:

1.  In the content tree click on the Root Page - ClubHouse Online – Training (This will display the name of the club)
2.  Click on the NEW (+) button
3.  On the Please select new page type screen, click on Page (menu item)


 
  

4.  Page name: Give your page a name (i.e. Contact Us)
5.  Use existing page template: This should already be selected

  
  
  
Choose a Page Layout

This screen allows you to choose your page’s layout (i.e. a page with 1 column vs a page with 2 columns vs a page that displays upcoming events and/or weather).

6.  In left hand pane select: Templates with Selectable Image (these templates allow the default banner image to be changed on a page by page basis if so desired) 

7.  In right hand pane select your desired Page Layout:

  • Header and Text with Selectable Image: is a standard page and the most popular option

  • . . . with WEBPART and Selectable Image: these templates include options for the following:

    • Upcoming Calendar Events

    • Weather (2 Day forecast)

    • Upcoming Birthdays

8.  Click on the SAVE button at the top of the screen

  • Note: once a layout has been saved for the new page it cannot be changed. The page would have to be deleted and above steps would have to be repeated to choose the correct layout 

 
   
  

9.  A new page will appear at the bottom of the Content Tree and you will now be in a state where you can start inputting your content or information.

  • Note: the page is not Live on your site until it is Published

    • This is indicated by the red and white x beside the page name.

    • Once the page is Published and Live the x transforms into a green checkmark.  

Moving a Page:

10.  Moving the Page:  The page can also be moved to a new location in the content tree whether it stays in the main navigation (as a parent page) or under one of your main headings/pages making it a Sub-Page (or a child page).

  • To move your page: Drag-&-Drop it or use the up and down arrows


  

Page Visibility / Security

11.  Who will view this page?: Adjust the Page Security to determine who is allowed to view the page (i.e. Members, the Public or both).

  • This is done in Properties - Security.

12.  Input your content. SAVE and PREVIEW to review your page.

  • Note: after saving, the page is not Live on your site until it is Published.

13.  Click PUBLISH to make it Live on the website.

  

  

Banner Image Change (Optional): 

Most sites have the ability to swap out the default banner image on the website for an image specific to this page.

  • Click the AlternativeImage bar

  • Click SELECT to browse for your desired banner image

  • Select the MEDIA LIBRARIES tab

  • Choose where in the Media library you would like the image to be stored (i.e. Site Media or in a Banner Images Folder)

  • Click UPLOAD to browse your computer for the desired photo

  • Click on the SAVE & CLOSE button on bottom right corner

  • Click SAVE to save your page

  • Click on PREVIEW to see replaced banner image

 
   
  

Web Parts

What are Web Parts? They are features within page layouts that can be enabled on a page by page basis; these features include:

  
     

Web Part Visibility and Configuration:

In order to have any of the above Web Parts on your page you must select a Page Layout that contains the words “with Web Parts” (as described above).

Pages with Web Parts will have the below headings near the top of the page.


  
  

Calendar at a Glance: 

The ability to display upcoming events of a particular category or list all upcoming events based on the following parameters.

Time Frame in Days: This specifies the range of dates to be searched for upcoming events.
Max Number of Displayed Events: Specifies the maximum number of events shown at a given time spread among multiple pages within the web part.
Max Events Displayed per Page: Specifies the maximum number of events shown on a single page within the web part.
Event Categories to display: select the categories that are to be displayed in this Calendar web part on this particular page. It can display anywhere from one category or display All categories in the web part. Example if this is a dining page check only the Dining Category. 
Visibility: Check box to turn the visibility on, uncheck to turn it off.

  • Note: the changes will be applied after you Save the page.

  

   

Weather Web Part:

Location:  This is a code that can be obtained from www.weather.com based on your location.

  • Go to www.weather.com
    • Search location (i.e. Toronto, Ontario)
    • Copy the location code found in the website URL in the address bar http://www.weather.com/weather/today/l/CAXX0504:1:CA

Unit of Measure: Fahrenheit or Celsius
Days: Specifies number of upcoming days to display. Note: 2 days is the maximum.
City Name: Specifies the displayed city or club name on the page. Note: 20 character limit.
Visibility: Check box to turn the visibility on, uncheck to turn it off.

  • Note: the changes will be applied after you Save and switch to Preview Mode.

  

   
   

Upcoming Birthdays:

Time Frame in Days: This specifies the range of dates to be searched for upcoming birthdays.
Max Number of Displayed Birthdays: Specifies the maximum number of birthdays shown at a given time spread among multiple pages within the web part.
Max Birthdays per Page: Specifies the maximum number of birthdays shown on a single page within the web part.
Visibility: Check box to turn the visibility on, uncheck to turn it off.

  • Note: the changes will be applied after you Save and switch to Preview Mode.
